Having read Mr Rimmington’s letter regarding the problems caused by the latest Chesterfield Half Marathon (Lives were ‘disrupted’ - October 26), I would like to add that I totally agree with him.
A colleague of mine who is a carer had to go to a client really early as after 8.30am it would not have been possible to get there until after lunch, I’m sure she wasn’t the only one who found it near impossible to complete their calls easily.
My son lives in Brampton but had to leave his car at my house in Newbold on Saturday night and walk up on Sunday so he and his partner could go to Sheffield shopping as he was totally boxed in with road closures.
I know this is for charity and of course I support that, but we are surrounded by countryside and as Mr Rimmington points out, country parks.
There needs to be more thought put into next year’s route and that people need to enjoy their day off by going out if they wish.
