LETTER: an all-male voice choir has nothing to do with sexism. Top cop should stick to enforcing the law.

With reference to your article and related editorial comment regarding the police force severing ties with the Derbyshire Constabulary Male Voice Choir.

The Chief Constable of Derbyshire, in his efforts to appear politically correct and so right on, has succeeded only in making himself look silly in my view.

I attended the broadcasting of ‘Any Questions’ at Bakewell Church where the panel and audience were united in thinking his decision wrong. For Mr Goodman’s information the male voice in the context of a male voice choir is an instrument.

It has nothing to do with sexism or exclusion. I know of three female choirs in my local area which appear to cause no affront to anybody’s sensibilities.

So please Mr Goodman, concentrate on protecting the people of Derbyshire and enforcing the law and save this claptrap for your private thoughts.
