Group helping to keep teens off Eckington’s streets

A number of years ago a group of young teenagers joined S21, a project run by a Mrs Brian Woodshaw, a member of the Dave Berry band.

Brian was teaching these teenagers music and how to play instruments including guitars etc., spending hours of his own time un-payed.

It was not selective anyone could join.

He was in effect keeping these teenagers off the streets.

However, the Community Regeneration Project that run the business centre at the bottom of the John Street said they were having complaints about the noise from the upstairs offices. Pressure was put on Brian who was going to resign stating in his view it was a personal attack against him. Other members of S21 refused to let him go instead they all packed up.

I thought the CRP was designed for this very purpose, in my view it was a worthwhile project with acceptable noise.

I would like to hear what the CRP have to say.
