Dive in to help disabled swim

My name is Sharon Davis, I am the mother of a six-year-old daughter and three-year-old twin boys.

One of my sons is a Cerebral Palsy sufferer.

As a family we currently attend Sea Ponies, which is a public-funded swimming session.

This class currently uses the “pool for Megan” pool at Ashgate Croft Special School.

The class is used by families with disabled children and brings huge benefits to the children and their families.

The pool is specifically adapted for the need of the children with sensory pool equipment to engage children, and has the correct pool temperature.

The session is also a fantastic opportunity for parents with similar circumstances to support each other.

I personally feel very angry that the council does not financially support Sea Ponies regardless of the physical, social and emotional benefits that the session brings to our children.

Unfortunately, the “fundraising pot” is now empty.

I am more than happy to become involved in fundraising events and would like to ask for any local people or businesses to donate funds, items, or time to help this cause.

If you could help in any way, please contact the Derbyshire Times who will pass on my details. Thank you for any support possible.

Sharon Davis
