Cuttings may cause floods

I was walking into Chesterfield recently along the A61 and just beyond Horns Bridge roundabout when I glanced into the River Hipper which flows down the side of Homebase and the old MFI buildings.

I must say a huge thankyou to whoever is responsible for cutting back the overhanging branches from trees along the banks; marvellous job! What a shame they dumped said cuttings in the centre of the river, causing a damn.

Some folk have very short memories – only four years ago the river flooded that area.

Luckily for the locality we have not had significant rain to do any damage but if said debris does get washed downstream it could cause problems.

Plesase send someone to clear up the debris and save future heartache for local businesses and homeowners.
