A narrow escape

I READ with interest the letter about the large black car racing through red lights.

On Friday, July 8, I went across the road to shop at the Post Office and Londis.

On the way back I waited at the crossing for the ‘pips’ and started off from the shop side.

When I was just about in front of a large lorry (by Chatsworth surgery) I heard a fast engine and looked left, a large black car streaked past me (and my trolley/walker) straight through red lights towards Chesterfield.

I looked after it, looked up at the lorry driver and said: “Did you see that?”

If I had not been in front of the lorry, the driver of the black car could have mown me down.
