TALENTED north Derbyshire youngsters are set to hit all the right notes when they take on choirs from all over the country at a prestigious competition.
Walton Holymoorside Primary School Choir, of Chesterfield, has been selected to compete in the under 12s category, at Barnardo’s National Choir Competition, at London’s Barbican Centre, on March 6.
A school spokesman said: “The children are delighted to have the honour of competing and performing at the Barbican Centre and we’re sure it will be a highlight of our performances to date.”
Composer and conductor Douglas Coombes who works on the BBC’s Songs of Praise school choir competition will be chairing the judging panel.
Two winning choirs will also have the opportunity of performing in the Barnardo’s Young Supporters’ Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, in London, on April 23.
Walton Holymoorside Primary School Choir has regularly participated in music festivals including the Music for Youth Festival where it has twice reached the finals.
