Young man to stand trial accused of manslaughter of Chesterfield soldier Chris Henchliffe

A young man is set to stand trial accused of killing Chris Henchliffe in Chesterfield.

Benjamin Edwards, 22, of Fieldview Place, Chesterfield, is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday charged with manslaughter following the 26-year-old's death.

The trial is expected to last five days.

According to Derbyshire Constabulary, Mr Henchliffe was allegedly attacked outside the Pomegranate Theatre in Corporation Street, Chesterfield, between 4am and 4.30am on July 3 last year.

Former soldier and father Mr Henchliffe, of Maynard Road, Chesterfield, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries and died nine days later.
