Y Not Festival is ‘best one ever’

Event organisers and Derbyshire Police are hailing this year’s sell-out Y Not Festival as a huge success after the event passed largely incident free with a positive atmosphere.

The three day event, which took place over the weekend, was attended by 10,000 revellers – making it the largest crowd the Pikehall music festival has ever accommodated.

Community Safety Sergeant Mark Wright, who attended the festival, said: “On the whole the atmosphere was positive and officers patrolling the site throughout the weekend were well received by festival goers they spoke to.”

A spokesperson for Y Not festival added: “Attendees were simply fantastic and made it the best Y Not Festival ever.

“Thank you to everybody who was involved or attended so very, very much – we’ve had brilliant feedback so far.”

As with any large-scale event, there were, unfortunately, a few reports of thefts from tents which police are investigating.

Several people were also refused entry after being caught with drugs.

Sgt. Wright added: “The vast majority of people enjoyed themselves within the law, though, and we send our praise to organisers and the vast majority of attendees.”
