Xmas gift for pupils

A Matlock store gave a village school an early Christmas present this year in the form of gardening supplies.

Wilkinson, in Bank Road, provided Lea Primary School, in Church Street, with compost, plant pots and hundreds of daffodil bulbs for its Christmas Fair.

The donation allowed children to plant small pots of miniature daffodils which will be given as Christmas presents to parents or grandparents.

It was made as part of Wilkinsons’ Helping Hands community scheme, which provides support to local projects.

Head teacher Simon Gostick said: “We are very grateful to Wilkinson in Matlock for donating the supplies to make our planting scheme possible for the children. Not only will they have a lovely original gift to give their parents and grandparents, they have also learnt a great deal about plants and flowers.”
