“It was the first time I had done race for life and I was overwhelmed with the emotion of the day.

“We had a fantastic time and will definitely be there again next year. Well done to the pink ladies of Chesterfield!”

Amber Scott, 21, said she ran for family members who have just beaten – and are currently fighting – cancer.

She added: “I ran with my daughter, as I did last year.

“I ran it for my aunt, who passed away in 2008.

“I think Race for Life is an amazing thing to be part of – it is always so well run and has an amazing atmosphere.”
