A CHESTERFIELD woman caught with fake £10 notes has been warned she could be jailed.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard that Kayleigh Finch and another woman were stopped in a Tesco store on suspicion of theft.

Becky Mahon, prosecuting, said the pair were searched and 19 counterfeit £10 notes were seized from 26 year-old Finch.

Finch, of College Avenue, Staveley, admitted possessing counterfeit money last November 1.

District Judge Andrew Davison said the court’s sentencing powers were insufficient and committed her to be dealt with by a judge at Derby Crown Court on May 11.

“It’s not inevitable you will go into custody but it is highly likely,” Mr Davison told Finch. He ordered probation service reports and granted Finch unconditional bail.
