Woman suffers serious head injuries after being punched to floor

A woman suffered serious head injuries after being punched to the floor in a town centre.

The 30-year-old is currently in Queen’s Medical Centre in a stable condition.

A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.

It happened at The Delph in Swadlincote at about 12.20am on Saturday.

The woman was punched to the floor and struck her head.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “We want anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch as soon as they can.”
