Woman raped in Chesterfield

Police are appealing for information after a woman was raped in Chesterfield.

The victim was walking along Springfield Avenue in Ashgate between 10.05pm and 10.25pm on Good Friday, March 25, when she was approached by a man.

He said that he had lost his dog and asked her if she would help him to find it. The woman agreed and they walked down a footpath which runs between Springfield Avenue and Linden Park Grove.

The man then pushed the woman to the floor and raped her.

Detective Sergeant Steve Warren who is investigating said: “I would like to stress that this is an isolated incident in a secluded area.

“We are keen to trace a man that was described as 5ft 10ins tall, of a slim build, in his late 20s with short black spikey hair. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a black jumper and jeans.”
