A woman has died after a “serious” crash on a Derbyshire road.
At 4.25pm on Monday, a Ford Transit van and a Yamaha moped collided at the junction of Tom Lane and Staveley Road, Duckmanton.
The 40-year-old rider of the white 125cc moped was airlifted to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield with serious head injuries.
The woman, Nicola Sanderson, of Hollingwood, had been fighting for her life in intensive care but sadly died on Tuesday night, a spokesman for Derbyshire police said this morning.
The van driver was not injured.
The road was closed until 8pm, causing traffic chaos in the area.
The police spokesman said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this serious collision.
“Anyone who saw the incident should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 444 01/09/14.”
The woman’s inquest is expected to open within the next few days.
