Woman flown to hospital after serious Peak District fall

A woman has been flown to hospital in Sheffield after she suffered a serious fall in the Peak District.

Edale Mountain Rescue Team were called out this afternoon to Birchen Edge near Baslow to assist with the rescue.

The woman, who is from Birmingham, was initially unconscious as a result of the fall.

A spokesman for the mountain rescue team said: “She was immobilised in a vacuum mattress for potential spinal injuries and evacuated to the top of the crag and the waiting Yorkshire air ambulance, for onward transport to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.”
