Woman airlifted after Baslow crash

A 27-year old female has been airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision in Baslow on Saturday.

Her vehicle was spotted in a ditch next to a river bed by a passing lorry driver.

Due to the awkward location of the incident, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) were called out to the incident. They left their base at East Midlands Airport at 07:47 and arrived at the scene of the incident at 08:10. The patient was extricated from the vehicle by the local fire and rescue service.

She was initially said to be alert but then started drifting in and out of consciousness. She was treated on the scene for potential pelvic and head injuries before being flown to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield for further treatment. Her current condition is unknown.

DLRAA believe their patients should be able to reach specialist treatment no matter where their incident happens. The sooner they reach the most relevant hospital for their injuries the greater their chance of survival and recovery.
