More than 1,100 people visited the open gardens event in Wirksworth.

The ninth Hidden Courtyards and Gardens of Wirksworth Trail featured 29 gardens, with visitors being treated to refreshments and live entertainment.

Peter Riddle, on behalf of the Hidden Gardens group, said: “Despite the fact there is competition from surrounding villages and towns, Wirksworth remains a firm favourite with many visitors returning year after year.

"Visitors were impressed with the friendliness of Wirksworth people, the diversity of the gardens and the excellent organisation over the weekend.”
