WINGERWORTH: Tributes left to three riders killed in smash

Tributes have been left to the three riders who died in a collision on the A61 in Wingerworth on Saturday.

The three men, Andrew Siddall, 49, from North Wingfield, Robert Newton, 45 from Boythorpe 46-year-old David Wilson from Sheffield were pronounced dead at the scene after being involved in a two-motorcycle smash near the Hunloke Arms pub at around 3pm.

Dozens of flowers and messages have been left for the three at the site of the incident.

One reads: “Gone but not forgotten, RIP Dave.” Another said simply “Sid, Bob and unnamed - our thoughts are with you.”

On the Derbyshire Times Facebook page, readers have paid tribute to the men.

Carl Newton, said: “RIP - I’ve been enjoying the beautiful riding weather this weekend, this comes as terrible news.... my thoughts go out to all the families. Stay safe out there guys.”

Another, Robert Tulip, said: “As a motorcyclist myself I am very saddened to hear this. I only hope no one suffered too much and condolences to the families.”

Officers are still investigating the cause of the crash. Anyone with information about the collision should call Derbyshire Police on 101.
