A BIG-HEARTED widower who is close to raising over £30,000 for cancer charities after his wife was struck down by the killer disease is about to roll out on his latest sponsored challenge.
Francis Peters, 39, of Wingerworth, took on challenges to thank those who cared for his wife who died last year and on Saturday he is setting off on a 200mile sponsored ride to Skegness and back for Chesterfield’s Ashgate Hospice.
He said: “The hospice helped care for Kerry and our family and they do such a fantastic job that I wanted to give something back.”
Mr Francis has raised over £20,000 with a Derby 10k run and a triathlon for Sheffield’s Weston Park Hospital and completed a Drag Race fun-run and a 100km bike ride for Ashgate Hospice.
His latest two-day challenge for the hospice has attracted over £9,500 in pledges and Francis hopes more donations will help him top a £30,000 charity total.
Franics will be joined by seven sponsored cyclists including family and friends. Those wishing to sponsor Francis can visit www.justgiving.com/FrancisPeters for details.
