YOUNGSTERS have helped create a traditional well dressing to go on show in a church.
The students from North East Derbyshire Support Centre - who learn life skills there after been permanently excluded from school - completed the work as part of a community project with Old Whittington Church.
They have also helped spruce up the site and were able to see their work on display at the church’s flower festival last week.
Sharon Robinson, teaching assistant at the centre in Barrow Hill, said: “This year we’ve been working on a theme of helping in the community.
“In the bad snow we also shovelled all the streets as part of this.
“All the people who were coming in the church have said how lovely it looks and everyone is pleased with the well dressing.
“The ladies who normally do it said they can spend 12 hours a day on it so they were extremely happy to have some help.
“Our students are really proud.”
The well dressing was completed as part of students’ coursework for the Asdan Cope award.
