Spectacular video shows Derwent Dam overflowing as reservoir levels rise

After another weekend of heavy rain and gale-force winds, people watched in awe as water spectacularly thundered over the Derwent Reservoir dam in the Derbyshire Peak District.

Heavy rain continues in Derbyshire today (Monday 24 February), with a yellow weather warning for rain and snow in place for parts of the county.

There is also a flood alert in place for parts of Derbyshire close to the Lower Rother, including Eckington and Killamarsh.

The weather is expected to ease up this afternoon.
