Met Office warns of power cuts and flooding risk from Derbyshire thunderstorms
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for potential disruption from thunderstorms in Chesterfield and Derbyshire this weekend.
Forecasters say there is a risk of flooding and power cuts when storms arrive, and have put in place a yellow warning from 12noon to 10pm on Saturday.
A yellow warning means there is a risk driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.
Delays to train services are possible and some short term loss of power and other services is also possible.
Flooding of a few homes and businesses could also occur.
The current Met Office forecast predicts storms are most likely on Saturday evening in Chesterfield, from about 7pm to midnight.
