A yellow ‘be aware’ weather warning is in place for the weekend, with strong winds expected to blow as fast as 50mph in Chesterfield.

Meanwhile, downpours are already battering the region and will continue throughout Saturday, February 15, until around 11am on Sunday, easing off to bring in a cloudy but dry afternoon with sunny intervals later on.

The Met Office has warned of possible travel disruption, with buses and trains expected to see some delays and cancellations due to road closures and power cuts are likely across the country.
