Heavy snowfall in Chesterfield as further spells of snow and ice predicted

The Met Office said that after a cold start today, with some frost or freezing fog patches, there will be sunny spells this afternoon.

It will be mainly dry overnight with widespread prolonged clear spells. Freezing fog or frost patches may develop as the temperature drops to -1°C.

Today’s heavy snowfall has caused disruptions across the town, with some bus services disrupted.

Stagecoach said its Service 1 and 1a Newbold-Chesterfield-Langwith will only operate on main roads.

Its 43 service to Sheffield will also serve main roads only and its 80 and 80a services will not be serving Killamarsh.

Meanwhile, its 91 service from Chesterfield to Holymoorside will turn back at Holymoorside Park.

Wednesday will see brighter, drier weather.

Overnight, freezing fog or frost will slowly clear but will develop again that night.
