Warning over bogus caller in Chesterfield claiming to be from council
Residents are being warned to watch out for a bogus caller claiming to be from Chesterfield Borough Council.
The bogus caller has been targeting houses in Chesterfield.
A resident in Old Whittington handed over money to a bogus caller who turned up on the doorstep claiming to be from the council’s housing team.
Council staff will not call on residents unannounced and ask for money.
All council staff should carry identification.
Contact the council on 01246 345345 to check the caller is genuine.
Any residents who receive a call, should contact Derbyshire Police on 101.
