Warning for Chesterfield drivers

During the fresh phase of work being carried out by Derbyshire County Council, disruption is expected for motorists using the A632 Hollis Lane where the permanent traffic lights will be replaced with temporary ones from 7am on Monday, March 7, until Wednesday, March 16, at the latest.

The council is also shutting the A61 southbound exit slip road before the already heavily-congested Horns Bridge roundabout.

Access will be given to emergency vehicles but a signed diversion route will be in place for other motorists.

A council spokesman said: "We would like to apologise for any delays."

The path is being installed as part of the Chesterfield Cycle Network, a long-term project to link shopping areas to the train and bus stations and main residential areas in the town.

Construction work on the path started last November and took place over three days.

When complete, the path will be about 100 metres long and run from Hipper Street South, between Markham and Ravenside Retail parks and on to Lordsmill Street where there will also be a new footbridge.

An additional footbridge over Hollis Lane will also be built − linking the final part of the route through to the train station.
