War heroes remembered

Ex–service men and woman will stand shoulder to shoulder with Dales residents this weekend to remember those who fought and died for their country.

Services will take place across the country for Remembrance Day on Sunday.

A service will be held at Pic Tor War Memorial, Matlock, at 11am.

A short informal service will be held at Hall Leys Park Head, Matlock, at 11am, when two minutes remembrance silence and prayers.

This will be followed by a ceremony at 3pm.

The Starkholmes war memorial event will be at 11.20am.

Matlock Bath’s remembrance service will be led by David Green and music will be provided by the BM & W training band.

A wreath will be laid by the parish council on behalf of the village and children from Holy Trinity Primary School will lay a wreath.

Bakewell’s Remembrance Day parade has been organised and led by the Bakewell branch of the Royal British Legion.

There will be intermittent road closures in force throughout the town and the car park in the Market Place will be closed to the public from 7am until the conclusion of the parade.
