One of the biggest sporting spectacles of the year is set to hit the roads of Derbyshire as plans get underway to welcome the 2016 Aviva Women’s Tour cycle race to the region.
Cyclists from the world’s top ten pro teams will head to Britain to line-up for the five-day road race which includes a 112km Stage 3 on Friday, June 17, from Ashbourne to Chesterfield, including Buxton and Matlock.
The overall race starts in Suffolk, on June 15, and finishes in Kettering on June 19.
And Derbyshire Times’ readers are being given the chance to win a pair of corporate hospitality tickets for the Stage 3 finish in Chesterfield courtesy of Derbyshire County Council.
Aviva Women’s Tour Race director Mick Bennett said: “This June’s Aviva Women’s Tour will have its best ever line-up of teams, headlined by the fact that we will have all of the world’s top ten teams racing.
“The response we have had from teams wishing to participate has been overwhelming leading to a very hard decision making process to select the final teams for the race, but this has enabled us to select our best ever line-up.
“We know this combined with the tougher parcours will make for a super competitive and exciting race with the world’s best racing for the Aviva Yellow Jersey.”
