Glenn Turner was first in line outside Tallbird Records on Soresby Street, shrugging off the cold and lack of sleep to get his hands on two coveted releases.

He was rewarded for his stamina, walking out of the shop on Soresby Street with the Happy Mondays’ Thrills, Pills & Bellyaches LP on yellow vinyl and Ocean Colour Scene’s double LP Live At The Bridgewater Hall.

One of the most requested albums this morning was Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds - In The Heat Of The Moment (Remixes) 12ins.

Another popular choice was Monty Python Stephen Hawking sings The Galaxy Song 7ins.

Carol Cranfield, from West Handley, near Whittington, was in the queue to buy half a dozen sought-after vinyls. Top of her wishlist was an exclusive pressing of Joe Bonamassa’s 12ins black LP but after queuing up for over an hour, it had gone by the time she reached the desk. Avid vinyl collector Carol, 59, did manage to buy the last copies of Robert Plant’s More Roar 10ins and Rory Gallagher’s City Hall in Session 10ins, both new releases.
