The cream of Dales photographic talent has risen to the challenge to take part in Matlock Photographer of the Year 2013.
Matlock residents were invited to put forward their photographs once again and the theme for 2013 was ‘Light’.
With an invitation to be as creative as possible, Matlock Town Council provided extra help and inspiration during the Saturdays Unplugged events with a photowalk led by local photographer Jonathan Christian.
The winner of the Matlock Photographer of the Year 2013 title was Ralph Goodson with his view over Matlock.
Winner of the under 16s category was Amiee Casson with her photograph of the sun hanging low over the Dales. The Matlock Photographer of the Year 2013 runners up were Declan Sloan, with a picture of some trees, and Peter Keeble, who captured a frosty morning in Hall Leys Park.
The winners were presented with their prizes by Matlock Town Council this week.
As part of his prize, Ralph Goodson received a framed print from Jonathan Christian, and all of the winners will be invited to attend a photography workshop on the theme of ‘Light’ learning new techniques, again courtesy of Jonathan Christian Photography.
Mayor of Matlock Councillor David Jones said: “We were pleased to receive so many entries for the competition this year and with the standard and quality.
“As this annual Matlock Town Council competition gains popularity we look forward to seeing even more entries showing a diverse range of talent and perspective on our town in 2014 as well.”
