Dispelling tall tales concerning virgins and the devil, Mat’s video instead focuses on the way the Spire was built in the 14th Century.

In turns out a combination of ‘green’ wood, lots of lead and a shortage of skilled craftsmen conspired to create the Spire’s iconic shape.
