The Duke of Devonshire, the Mayor of Chesterfield and the leader of Staveley Town Council were all there along with the architect responsible for the redesign and representatives of the Heritage Lottery Fund who part funded it.

The fully refurbished building - which will be available for both community and business use - will have its official public unveiling in October.

The leader of Staveley Town Council, Chris Ludlow, said: “It is a very proud day. There are times in the last five years that we didn’t think that we were going to get here but it’s really good that we finally have.

“I can’t wait for the public to come and have a look round to see how their money has been spent.”
