VIDEO: Matlock man found dead after car is driven off Matlock Bath cliff

A man was found dead after police believe his car was driven off High Tor, in Matlock Bath.

The body of a man has been pulled from his car which was found in woodland beneath the rock face this morning (Monday, June 2).

Police were called at 7.45am after an eyewitness saw track marks at the top of High Tor.

When police attended a black Chrysler PT Cruiser was found at the base of the cliff and the man was pronounced dead.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was 65 and from Matlock.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: “It appears like the car’s been driven off the edge of the cliff and we are unclear as to what’s happened at the moment.”

Anyone that may have seen the vehicle in the area or has any information is asked to call Derbyshire police on 101 quoting incident number 102 of Monday, June 2.
