More than a dozen road steam engines took to the hills as part of The Wirksworth Assessment Trial on Saturday.

The machines, which dated from between 1875 and 1930, set off from Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, in Wirksworth, before making their way to Ambergate, Crich, Tansley and Matlock.

The engines returned to Wirksworth via Matlock Bath and Cromford Hill.
