VIDEO: Demolition of old Queen's Park Sports Centre in Chesterfield

Richard Hewitt captured photos of the old waterslide being removed over the weekend (see video).

He said: “I was walking through Queen’s Park on Saturday lunch time, when I saw some heavy plant machinery being used for the demolition of the old sports centre.

“This activity seemed worth taking a closer look at, and just as I got to a good viewing area, on the opposite side of Boythorpe Road, the demolition operatives were starting to pull the water slide out with their giant machines.

“It was a very unusual sight; entertaining but also a bit saddening: remembering the joyful visits my old mates and I spent there as children. It only appeared to take around five minutes for the old water slide’s somewhat rough removal, before being scrapped presumably.”
