Vehicle theft advice after incidents in High Peak

Motorists in Hadfield are being encouraged to 'lock it or lose it' following thefts from vehicles in the town.

Police received reports of four vehicles in the area being broken into and items such as clothing and electrical items being stolen just last weekend.

Thieves targeted a grey Renault Kangoo that was parked on the driveway of a property along North Brook Road overnight between 10.30pm on Saturday, March 12 and 9am the following morning,

A rucksack, clothing, Reebok trainers, and a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses were stolen from within.

On the same night, vehicles along Pear Tree Close, Burnside and Green Lane in Hadfield were also targeted by thieves, with items including cash, a purse containing bank cards and a driving licence, a sat-nav, and a mobile phone being stolen.

Following the thefts, officers are urging local drivers to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to them as it is happening to help stop a crime from taking place.

Officers from the Hadfield and Tintwistle Safer Neighbourhood Team will be working alongside the police cadets to carry out targeted patrols in the area. They will also be speaking to motorists to encourage them to consider the security of their own vehicles.
