Shortly before 5am today (Tuesday, November 10), officers received a report that a Mercedes van had broken down on the A38 at its junction with the A61 in Alfreton and that a recovery vehicle was on route.

At around 5.10am, the Mercedes was struck by another van, which is carrying chemicals. A third van collided with the first two and then a lorry collided with all three vehicles.
