The Jaguar XKR went up in flames at 7pm last night whilst parked in the B&Q carpark on Spire Walk near the Hornsbridge roundabout.

Some eyewitnesses said the car had simply ‘gone up in flames’ but others suggested that it had been ‘deliberately set alight’.

The police now say they would like to speak to two men in connection with their inquiries.

Both are described as being white and wearing black tracksuits.

One had a blue peaked cap while the other wore a black hat.

The two men were last seen running away from the carpark in the direction of the skate park behind the Ravenside retail park.

A local motorcyclist is believed to have a video of the two men running away from the scene.

The owners of the vehicle are believed to have been eating at the Nando’s restaurant on the nearby Alma Retail Park at the time of the incident.

Reader, Julia Ann, who contacted us on Facebook, said: “The owners were sat on the table behind us.

“We were the first to notice the car was on fire and then a couple jumped up and left the restaurant.

“It was the smoke we saw first, then sparks followed by flames.

“The lady then came back in and said to me that they were parked over by B&Q and she had sent her husband to investigate.

“Shortly after she received a call, and went to get a refund on their food.”

More will follow on this story as and when we get it.
