Two call-outs for lifesaving team

Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) were called out following two falls in the Peak District on Tuesday, March 26.

They were first called out to a residential address in Baslow after a 71–year–old woman fell down a flight of stairs.

The crew landed at the scene at 9.48am. On arrival, the patient was unable to move her legs and her blood pressure was low.

She was treated for suspected spinal injuries and given vital fluids and oxygen before being immobilised and flown to Northern General Hospital, in Sheffield.

They were later called to Dovedale after a hiker fell and sustained an ankle injury. Arriving at the scene at 12.13pm, the crew assessed and treated the patient, a 63–year–old woman, for a suspected broken ankle. She was then handed over to land ambulance crew, who transported her to Royal Derby Hospital for further treatment.
