The white stuff is forecast to fall from 4pm on Thursday, December 3 as part of a mixture of rain and snow showers over the town.

Cold temperatures are expected tomorrow with lows of 3c to a high of 4c – from 4pm to 11pm there is a 60 per cent to 35 per cent chance of snowfall.

Heavy snow showers will continue on Friday from 0.00am until 11am alongside some rainfall.

The weather will remain cold and brisk with lows of 2c and temperatures creeping up to 3c throughout the day.

Snow is predicted to fall on Saturday, December 5 as well, according to The Weather Channel – with a mix of rain and snow showers in the morning and a high of 4c.

There are hopes that an ‘Arctic blast’ could hit the UK at the end of this month, meaning we could experience a rare White Christmas, some reports have said.

A spokesperson for the Met Office added: “At the moment the UK is almost four weeks away from Christmas so we are unable to give any detailed forecast at this stage.

"But, our latest forecast does currently suggest that during the later stages of December it is looking more likely to be unsettled.”

Yesterday, (Tuesday, December 1) marked the first official day of meteorological winter, and with it has come colder conditions and forecasts of snow and icy conditions in some places.
