The A57 which is a key route for residents living in Derbyshire and Sheffield and commuting into Manchester, is now passable with care according to the local authority after gritters and road workers were out this morning clearing primary routes.

It comes after thick snow, along with ice and freezing rain fell across the county overnight, worst-affecting areas in the north east and north west and causing disruptions to roads and forcing schools to close.
