Major road in Derbyshire closed due to serious collision

A major road in Derbyshire is closed this morning, Thursday, August 20, following a serious collision.

The A38 has been shut between the A61 near Alfreton and the A610 near Hartshay due to the crash.

Emergency services are at the scene of the collision, which was reported by Highways England at around 5.45am.

Drivers heading north have been advised to exit the A38 at Ripley junction onto the A610 heading west. At the junction with the B6013 turn right and continue on the B6013 for 4.5km to the junction with the A615. Turn right at the junction at Oakerthorpe onto the A615 and continue until the junction with the A61 south. Turn right at the junction and rejoin the A38 northbound at the roundabout.

HGV users travelling north are advised to the A38 at the Ripley junction onto the A610 and head east for 16.4km to the M1 J26 junction. At the M1 J26 junction take the northbound exit and continue on the M1 to J28. Leave the M1 at J28 to rejoin the A38 northbound.

Road users and HGV users travelling southbound are advised to follow the above routes but in reverse.
