Lorry fire on major road near Chesterfield causes traffic to be stopped

Traffic was temporarily stopped by police on a major road near Chesterfield after a lorry has caught fire while driving.

Motorists on the A38 Southbound at Watchorn – which connects to the A61 towards Chesterfield and Matlock came to a standstill earlier this morning (February 1) while police and emergency workers tackled the blaze.

A lorry caught fire while driving on the road, causing the the road to be temporarily closed off.

Traffic has now been released, but lane 1 remains closed until the vehicle has been recovered.
