Latest road closures in Derbyshire as snow continues to cause chaos

Snow is continuing to cause chaos on roads in Derbyshire, with several major routes closed.

Derbyshire Police said the following roads were shut as of 5.15pm today, Friday, December 4:- A57 Snake Pass - closed at the Royal Pub, Glossop- A628 - closed at the Gun Inn, Hollingworth and at the junction of Church Road- A53 - closed at the Grinlow Road junction- Monk Road, Buxton.

Highways England has since issued an update, saying the A628 Woodhead Pass is now open but drivers are advised to continue to take care due to the bad weather conditions.

It also said that the A57 Snake Pass was ‘in the process of being checked to see if this can re-open’.

There have been reports of a lorry jackknifing on the A628 Woodhead Pass, with queues in both directions as a result.
