Firefighters called to Shirland house fire

Firefighters from Alfreton tackled a blaze at a house in Shirland on Sunday afternoon.

The crew attended St Leonard’s Place at around 3pm.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used water jets to fight the fire. After damping down, the crew left the scene at 3.51pm. There were no reports of any injuries.

At around 9.45pm, crews from Alfreton also attended a report of rubbish on fire at King William Street in Ironville. They arrived at the scene to find pallets “well alight”, which were extinguished using a water jet.
