Bins not collected in parts of Derbyshire today due to heavy snow and ice

A number of bins won’t be collected in parts of Derbyshire today, as crews struggle to battle snow and ice following yesterday’s heavy snowfall.

Residents in some areas of the Derbyshire Dales in the Peak District, will not have their scheduled recycling rubbish collected today due to snow and ice on the roads, after a significant amount of snow fell across the region yesterday (January 14).

Bins will not be collected on some streets in Baslow, Beeley, Calton Lees, Calver, Chatsworth, Curbar, Darley Dale, Edensor, Froggatt, Rowsley and Stoney Middleton today (January 15).

Derbyshire Dales District Council have also confirmed that there will be no garden bin collections today due to Covid-19 impacts, but bulky collections which could not be picked up yesterday will be taken today.

Food waste will not be collected if it is garden week for residents, but instead taken with general household waste.

Christmas trees will be recycled by bin crews when garden waste rubbish rounds return.
