Train fare dodge lands £675 bill

A man was hit with a £675 fine after jumping a train – which should have cost £11.10!

Jamie Barlow, 30, of Belper Lane, Belper, pleaded guilty to travelling on a Cross Country Trains service between Chesterfield and Belper without paying an £11.10 fare on February 18.

He was fined £490, ordered to pay £11.10 compensation, a £49 surcharge and £125 costs by JPs at outhern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court, Derby.
