A trail of blood was left in Matlock after an offender damaged a window at a bank.

The window at the HSBC branch in Dale Road was smashed between 10pm on Saturday and 9.30am the following morning.

A large amount of blood was left on the pavement and then led from Dale Road, over Matlock Bridge and into the town.

The trail stopped outside the Help the Aged shop in Bank Road.

It is thought that the offender punched the window and may have been left with a deep cut to their hand or arm.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “Officers want to hear from witnesses or anyone who might know someone with an injury sustained over the weekend.”

Call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
