Town ready for a party as carnival returns

Townspeople are getting into the party spirit as they prepare for annual festivities.

Wirksworth Carnival and Well Dressing Weekend is being held from May 24 to 26.

The Wirksworth Parade Committee has organised a weekend to remember full of fun and entertainment ranging from children’s rides to stalls and the parade itself.

The traditional blessing of the wells begins at 10.45am on Saturday at St Mary’s Church, followed by a walk around the wells.
